With the current shift to hybrid/remote learning in 2020 due to COVID-19, OIT has expanded tools that allow instructors to record their lectures. ![]() The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at CU Boulder provides multiple alternatives to TechSmith Relay. You do not have to migrate any of your existing videos, they will remain in any Canvas course they have been added to and will still be in Canvas MyMedia. The videos that you have already recorded with TechSmith Rely are on the CU Boulder Kaltura server and are still available. We have made the difficult decision to decommission the TechSmith Relay service effective December 31, 2020. We are asking you to stop using TechSmith Relay to record any new videos. TechSmith's business model has also recently changed, and we are not planning to subcribe for cloud hosting (Relay has been renamed to Knowmia and serves not just as a video creating tool, but mainly as a sharing platform). Our current license does not allow us to upgrade the software since we are self-hosting the Relay server on campus. Continuing Education at CU Boulder has been providing the TechSmith Relay service to instructors for over 10 years.
